Biography

US Black Heritage Project
Kizzy Waller is a part of US Black heritage.

Keisa was born enslaved about 12 Sep 1790 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, United States, daughter of Kunta Toby Kinte (~1750 - ~1822) and Isabelle (Waller) Kinte (~1747 - ~1820).

Around 1805, when Kizzy was in her late teens, she was sold away to North Carolina when William Waller discovered that she had written a fake traveling pass for an enslaved young man, Noah, with whom she was in love.

Her new owner Thomas Jarnigan Lea (1785 - ) raped and abused her upon her arrival at the new plantation, and whe gave birth to a son George Lea (1806 - 1890).

I have removed Thomas Jarnagin as the wife of Kizzy Waller. Marriage date of 1806 is not compatible with his birth of 1799. There was another Thomas Jarnagin Lea, son of another Major Lea, who was born in 1786, that could be relative to Kizzy. However, that profile seems to have disappeared. Finally, there is another thread that indicates the Tom Lea that married Kizzy was the son of Gabriel Lea (perhaps 254). The confusion continues!

According to Find A Grave, her father should have died i 1822 and not 5 years before she was born:
