A bit about me....
I was born in Santa Monica, California and raised in Los Angeles and nearby Orange County. I am the oldest of 8 children in a large Mormon family that goes back six generations in the church, to its founding. I am not Mormon, though most of my immediate and extended families are.
I've lived all over the United States, for my career and education, including in Dallas, Detroit, Miami, New York City, Salt Lake City and St. Louis. I now live in Palm Springs, California, where I'm a registered nurse and college nursing instructor, teaching undergraduate students in a large RN program. (My specialties are public health and psychiatry.) I am happily married, with two adult step children.
Prior to returning to school and becoming an RN in 2010, I had a long career as a corporate communications executive, with senior positions at Trans World Airlines, General Motors, the Federal Aviation Administration and The Walt Disney Company. Before that, I spent more than a decade as a news reporter, including for the Los Angeles Times, the Deseret News in Salt Lake City and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I've also written a lot for the Miami Herald.
Needless to say, I am a news junkie and an avid reader.
I earned a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York; a bachelor's degree in nursing, summa cum laude, from the University of Missouri; and a bachelor's degree in political science, magna cum laude, from the University of Utah.
I place a huge value on education.
While I may no longer be a Mormon, I absolutely inherited the church's - and my family's - deep love, appreciation and respect for genealogy.

Tags should be single surnames, locations, or genealogical interests related to your family research. Comments should relate to why those tags interest you.
Everyone does this a little differently but you can have a look at the tags on my profile to get an idea. Hope that helps!
Click the green tags on your top right of your profile page and see others following the same things you are researching. The more tags you add (20 max.) that include surnames, locations, periods of history or other genealogical interests, the more links to the community research options you will have.
