Mary Louise "Minnie" Walker was born in 1858. Minnie Walker was the daughter of James Monroe Walker and Elia Ann Marsh . She passed away in 1880. She died of tuberculosis 6 weeks after her marriage to John Wellborn Root.
Years later John Wellborn Root would become a very noted architect in Chicago, and he developed a way to build tall buildings there.
"Mary Louise, also known as Minnie, was Dora Monroe's best friend. At the time of her wedding, Minnie was so ill with tuberculosis, that she was unable to walk down the stairs of the family home where she was being married. Her father carried her down the stairs and stood holding her in him arms while she was married to John Root. She then received guests from a bed which had been installed in the parlor for the wedding reception. After Minnie died, John married Dora, her best friend."
