Biography

Alice Malsenior Walker is an American author and social activist. In 1982, she became the first African-American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for her acclaimed novel, The Color Purple.[1]

Alice Walker was born in Georgia in 1944. She is the daughter and youngest of eight children of Willie Lee Walker and Minnie Lou Tallulah Grant.
