Betty was born at Craig Air Force Base outside Selma, Alabama. Her stay there was only a few months. Her first four years, however, were spent in Florence, Italy. Her father left the Air Force and moved the family to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Betty lived and attended public schools, graduating from Nathan Hale High School. She met Kelly Malone at the University of Tulsa and they married in June 1970. They moved to Dallas, Texas after his graduation from TU in 1983 with their two sons, Christian and Zach. Another son, Drew, was born in Dallas. They moved to Orlando, Florida in 1986 where they live at present.
