Why is it that nobody gives me a straight answer to my question?? All that I want to do, is the following: I want to change the birth date of Jan van Locherenberg (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Van_Loggerenberg-50) according to his baptism certificate, (because it is wrong on the quoted website) and then add his parents and grandparents. Is that such a difficult question to answer? I have certified to work on pre-1700...?

Not sure where else you have posted your question. On your profile as a comment, will not normally get a response. If you have a general question you ask them in the G2G forum.
As the profile you are asking about is project protected, you cannot usual edit these profile. You need to ask the project and provide your evidence
I hope this in part answer your query

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Based on a review of your post-1700 profiles, you will need to improve the quality of the source you add for the pre-1700 profiles you create or work on, as mentioned earlier source should be Primary not secondary.

Then, based on your remark above regarding "a review of your post-1700 profiles", I am not sure what exactly it means - does it mean that the quality of my post-1700 profiles are being doubted? Or is it wrong in some way? Please give me an indication of such mistakes, and I will gladly correct it, if it is in any way possible for me. I do make use of searches in FamilySearch, GENI and MyHeritage, and most of the time find what I am looking for, but not always.
Kind regards Etienne van Loggerenberg
Post 1700 profiles
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Van_Eyck-7 he is marked unsourced but has sources. He has what appears two wives with almost same name one with more detail than the other so raises the question are they the same person.
There is minimal biography, generally more detail is good. If a location is known a little dialogue about the area - where he lived or died.
It is not that these profiles are wrong just that they could be better. By improving profiles of the post-1700 you learn more to support the pre-1700 and writing a biography, adding location and other details all helps find source to add support for the facts
Any question just ask
All the best Janet
Two questions: 1. Can you provide an answer to my first question in my message to you, regarding how to upload info about pre-1700's? 2. Re your reference to Van Eyck above. I have sources (I came across these sources when looking into my connections with the John Black family - one of them married a Van Eyk.) I will add these sources here, perhaps you can tell me how to add them (the references to how sources are added are (for me) extremely confusing.) 1. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VFTS-KVS 2. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DZN4-WWZ?i=112&cc=1478678&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AVRLS-4TD 3. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSV8-7SGX-6?cc=1478678 4. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-DRH9-1DJ?i=196&cc=1478678 5. https://www.openarch.nl/dar:d7a0f5d5-89b9-46f7-a0b6-e5d4ea1f4be3 Regards Etienne
One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that I found very helpful. I hope that you will too.
