  4. https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/delawareonline/obituary.aspx?n=helen-elizabeth-dennison-stang&pid=183268873&fhid=30260 Helen Elizabeth (Stang) Dennison, age 68, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26th, 2016, with her family by her side, after a brave and relentless battle with cancer. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Florence (Wallace) Stang of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania. Helen moved to Wilmington, Delaware, in 1976 when she married her college sweetheart Alan Dennison. She was a member of the first graduating class of Garnet Valley High School in 1966, and furthered her education at Goldey-Beacom College. Immediately following, Helen became the executive secretary for Philadelphia Electric Company, where she worked for approximately 20 years. In 1988 Helen gave birth to their first and only child, and renounced her employment with the Philadelphia Electric Company in order to stay at home and raise their daughter, who was her proudest accomplishment. Helen lived for her family, and invested the majority of her time caring for them. She ceaselessly put the needs of others before those of herself, and would drop what she was doing in a heartbeat to be there for someone else, conveying a warmth and generosity that was beyond comparison. She was an active community member, involved in civic associations, fundraising, volunteer programs, Parent-Teacher-Associations (PTA), and assisted with many of her daughters' school functions. Helen was extremely well organized and very creative. She was involved in planning a number of her high school reunions, where her classmates remembered her as being the star of their basketball team. She was also a talented seamstress, making everything from her daughters Halloween costumes and holiday dresses, to doll clothes and Easter bonnets. She enjoyed oldies music, going to Phillies games, trips to the beach, spending summers at their family's cabin on the St. Lawrence River, and going out to eat (especially early morning breakfasts at Friendly's and late night trips to 24 hour diners). Helen also took pleasure in bargain hunting at garage sales on weekends (where she taught her daughter and her youngest niece how to handle money and find a good deal), and in attending plays at the Arden Dinner Theatre. She also enjoyed shopping, and always had a coupon for everything imaginable. Helen was also an expert at returning things, her family always joked with her: "you could return a half eaten bag of potato chips to a store that doesn't even take returns!" And she could. Thrilled to become a first time grandmother ("Grammy") in 2015, Helen adored and spoiled the newest little member of her family. She also acquired another grandchild, as her daughters fiancé has a wonderful 6 year old son who looked to her as his grandmother as well. Both of these children filled the later years of her life with great joy and pride. Helen is survived by her daughter Heather Dennison and fiancé Nathan Peters, and their daughter Savannah; Her brother Corry Stang and wife Denise, and daughter Holly; Brother-in-law Bill Dennison and wife DiAnne; Brother in-law Larney Fritz and wife Betsy, and their four children Gregory Fritz, Lauren (Fritz) Dogan and husband Michael, Caroline (Black) Duda and husband David, Rachel (Fritz) Sterback and husband Matt; and various other wonderful aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Alan Dennison; her parents Howard and Florence Stang; sister Barbara Fritz; and her in-laws Richard and Gretchen Dennison. Services will be private, however, friends and relatives may visit online: www.ChandlerFuneralHome.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family.
