Biography

Elizabeth was born about 1526, probably daughter of William Hovel and Anne Turner. She passed away about 1616.

Research Notes

Two Elizabeth Hovell's

Elizabeth, the daughter of Robert Hovell and Mirabel Knapp, is known from the wills of her parents to have married John Baker, who was still alive in 1602. Elizabeth Baker, widow, was appointed executrix of her mother's will in 1631.[1] There is no way she could have married Cornelius Brownson.

On Family Search it has the parents of Elizabeth Hovel, wife of Corneilous Brownson as the daughter of William Hovel and Anne Turner.[2]

On Geni it has a note that her parents could not have been Robert Hovell alias Smith (1535-1610) and Mirabel Knapp (1543-1631) as the birth years do not match up with Elizbeth Hovel who was born in 1526 and died in 1588.[3]

I am going to disconnect the incorrect parents Robert Hovel and Mirable Knapp as of 22nd, Feb, 2019. - Erik Granstrom.

It looks more likely that the name of her last husband was Hovel than that her maiden name was Hovel. Do we have any primary source evidence for her maiden name?
