Darlene (Unknown) Marquardt was adopted October 28, 1947
Location: Terre Haute, Indiana
Adoptive Parents Biological Parents
Father: Cecil Edward Blocksom Father: Zeland Waggoner
Mother: Marie Ella Bittleston Blocksom Mother: Maxine "Hart" Waggoner

I was raised by very loving, caring parents as well as their extended family, who loved me as if they were my biological parents/family. On my MyHeritage website I have family trees for both my adopted family and my biological family.

I love to read - play the piano, compose music, design webpages, and garden. I have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. My husband and I live in Eastern Oregon. He was adopted also.

Bio: I was born in Terre Haute, Indiana and adopted by Cecil and Marie Blocksom, when I was 6 months old. We traveled to Oregon in a brand spanking new 1949 Oldsmobile. We lived one year in Troutdale, Oregon before moving to Gresham, Oregon. I grew up in the Gresham Oregon area and moved to the Oregon coast after graduating from College, where I began teaching school. I lived in several states during my career and ended up in Eastern Oregon. I am certified Music Ed Pre-K through 12, Business Ed grades 5-12 and Career Technical grades 9-12. I retired at the end of the 2015 school year.

I did my DNA to see if I could connect with anyone in my biological family and I have a gedmatch account too. I was amazed that in less than a month, I was able to connect with biological family and fill in the gaps in the story I knew. Everything matched like a perfect jigsaw puzzle. I have become Facebook friends with my brothers and some nieces. I have had an email from a 1st cousin telling me some family history. It is amazing that after 70 years of being an only child, I am now blessed with siblings who have for many years been wishing to discover me.

I am a very active member of Toastmasters International and Oregon Hunter Education Instructors Association, holding offices in both.

I have joined the Indiana Adoptees Facebook page - [1]. and have registered on the Indiana Adoptees registry.

I don't see any sources on your personal page either, except "personal knowledge." Which is all that's actually needed, since we presumably know who *we* are. However, I've included numerous sources on the pages of all my ancestors at WikiTree. And I have far more information posted for all of them (and thousands of more distant relations) at WeRelate, where I'm a founding volunteer sysadmin. And all my DNA data is posted at the Smith Project at FamilyTreeDNA.

Hi

Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As I always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Every day I am learning something new here. Today I learned how to merge information from FamilySearch website to profiles I've made in WikiTree. It means my information is more accurate than it was before.
Hi Darlene,

You've been a member of WikiTree for about a week now so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions?

We want to help! Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

PS Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

In the process of adding backgrounds to the pages I have here, I believe I mucked up backgrounds to some other folk. I apologize if I did.. feel free to put it back how you want it. I only wanted to add my own backgrounds and not yours so.. I understand it's ok to make mistakes.. (my first one ever - ha ha)
PS. Forgot to mention you might want to download your RAW DNA from Ancestry and upload it to GEDMatch as that will be helpful as well. :)

Love your background! :) I noticed you mention you were adopted. If you need any help we do have the Adoption Angels Project; they recently even started an email group for Adoptees of WikiTree to help each other.

I see you added the DNA tag to your profile. Here are a few links & tips to help you along in the journey of WikiTree and DNA.

It's not hard to add DNA test information to profiles on WikiTree, just make sure you add the tests to the actual test participant's profile & set the Privacy to ‘Private w/ Public Biography & Family Tree’ to show the tester's part of our tree. For help see  How to DNA on WikiTree

Here's a great YouTube video with all sorts of questions answered Getting Started with DNA.

Hi Darlene,

I would like to suggest you add your surname tags this can help you connect with others that are researching the same surnames.

When you list a surname, location or historical event in your tags, you can then click them and see a list of other WikiTree genealogists who are also researching those names, locations, etc.

You'll also get notifications in your daily & weekly emails when there is activity relevant to your tags.

Information on Tags can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags
