Disputed Origins

Many family trees give Mary's last name at birth as Holland, but this is without documentary support. In fact, there is no source at present which gives support to ANY maiden name. Please do not try to change the LNAB without a solid source. Thank you! Sauls-238 19:53, 11 October 2017 (EDT)

Biography

Mary was born about 1661 of unknown parents. [1] [2] The age at death recorded on her gravestone corresponds to a birth date of 15 November 1661.

She married Wrestling Brewster.[citation needed]

They resided in Duxbury (Massachusetts).[citation needed]

Wrestling Brewster died on 1 January 1696/7.[citation needed]

Mary Brewster married her second husband, John Partridge of Duxbury, on 23 May 1700.[3] John Partridge died on 5 April 1731.[citation needed] After his death, Mary Partridge removed to Kingston, Massachusetts, where most of her children had settled, and died there on "Novbr ye 12th 1742 Aged 80 yr 11 mo & 27 days" (according to the gravestone inscription).[1][2][4] She is buried in Old Burying Ground, Kingston, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.[5]

Probate

Her will is dated 2 February 1733/34 and proved on 20 May 1742 in Plymouth. She mentions her sons, Jonathan, Wrestling, John, and Isaac, and her daughters, Mary, Abigail, Hannah, and Elizabeth, and the children of her deceased daughter Sarah.[6]

Her inventory was taken on 18 June 1742 in Duxbury.[7]

In 1743, the executor, Wrestling Brewster presented an account of her estate, including the funeral costs, probate costs, and gravestones.[8]

The citation for the marriage date only gives the marriage year. A better source given by Torrey (misspelled above), gives the complete marriage date of 23 May 1700. See: https://books.google.com/books?id=3o9HAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA108
