Biography

Silvira Huntsman Lafon Bandy was born Feb. 19, 1834 in Hunt County Tennessee to John and Nancy Frost Huntsman, and died Dec. 19, 1911 in Allen County, Kentucky. John was brother to Peter Huntsman (Martha Huntsman Bandy's father)

First cousin to Martha Huntsman Bandy. (Silvira also had a sister named Martha Caroline who married a Dalton in Allen County)

She married Jonathan Lafon about 1853 in Weakley County, Tennessee. They had 4 children together. (he had two from a previous marriage)

Jonathan died in 1863. Her cousin Martha (wife of Barney A Bandy) died in 1879.

She married Barney A Bandy (widow of cousin Martha) about 1878 or 1879.

Research Notes

A Silvera Bandy, born Feb. 1834, father's name Huntsman, died on December 19, 1911. Buried Dec. 21 in Walkers Chapel Cemetery. ^[1] Could she have been Martha's sister? ^[2]

1853: married Jonathan Lafon (still looking for more a definitive source for the date). They had 4 children together. He had two children from a previous marriage in 1834. He died in 1863. ^[4]

1880: living with Barney & three children in Allen Co. All three children are from Barney's first marriage to Martha. ^[5]

1900: living in Scottsville, Allen Co. with Barney and granddaughter Dollie Fishburn. Age 63. Mother of 4 children (these would be with first husband, Jonathan Lafon). ^[6]

1910: living in New Roe, Allen, Kentucky with son Melvin and wife Maggie Lafon (from first marriage to Jonathan), and Melvin's daughter from previous marriage Minnie, and two kids from this marriage Marverrine and Vernie. Listed as Silvia Banda. ^[7]
