William (Tyrell) Tyrrell was born in Essex, England.
Sir William Tyrrell was the son of Sir John Tyrrell (died 2 April 1437) and Alice Coggeshall (died 1422) daughter of Sir William Coggeshall (died 1426) Note: Sir John Tyrrell and Alice Coggeshall had two sons named William, p.110 of the 1558 Visitation has the younger William listed with his two wives and children.[1]
Sir William Tyrrell was married twice, his first wife was Anne FitzSimon, daughter of Robert Fitzsimondes, Knt. according to 1558 Visitations.[1][2] They had two children: Margaret and John.[1]
He married second, Philippe Thornbury, the daughter of John Thornbury. They had one son: Jasper Tyrrell, and three daughters: Elizabeth, Jane and Anne. Philippe Thornbury was the widow of John Pympt of Nettlestead, Kent, England (died 1454), she had three children with him: Reynold Pympe, Anne Pympe, and John Pympe.[3][1]
Sir William Tyrrell, wrote his will 16 March 1471[4]:
"In the name of Our Lord God, Amen. The 16 day of March the 49 year of King Henry the 6th, and the new taking upon him of his royal power the first year, and the year of Our Lord 1470, the last will and intent of me, William Tyrrell of Beeches in the shire of Essex, knight, written in a copy paper of this with mine own hand, then being in good mind & reasonable health of body, blessed and thanked more be Almighty Jesus:"[3]
Sir William Tyrrell, mentions son John Tyrrell from his 1st marriage, and from his second marriage his three unmarried daughters: Elizabeth, Jane and Anne and son Jasper Tyrrell. Sir William 2nd wife Dame Philippe is also named. Sir William also mentions step-daughter, Anne Pympe, "and also Anne Pympe till she be married, and when Anne Pympe is married to give her L20 of my besettings;"[3]He didn't mention his oldest married daughter Margaret and her husband, Thomas Huntingdon, but they are mentioned in the will of his son, John Tyrrell dated 20 December 1493.[5]
Sir William asks for prayers for his family in his will:
"to have in remembrance the sowlls of me, Anne and Dame Phelipp' my wyffes, the soule of my fader John Tyrell, Knyght, Alice and Kateryn his wyffes, and the soules of my Broder Thomas Tyrell, Knyght, Anne his wife, and the soules of John Thornebrough and Anne;"[3]
