John, born in Madison, Kentucky about 1788 was the son of Thomas Turner and Catherine Patterson.
He married Mary "Polly" Taylor, daughter of Peter Taylor and Nancy Crosthwait on July 31, 1806 in Madison, Kentucky. [1]
John's father, Thomas Turner, emigrated to Kentucky with one of the parties led by Daniel Boone and was an early settler at Fort Boonesborough. He became a close friend of Daniel Boone's brother Squire, and named his second son, Squire Turner. Thomas Turner later settled in what is now Madison County on Tates Creek. Not much is known about John, but his brother Squire Turner grew up to be a distinguuished Kentucky lawyer, was one of the framers of the state constitution in 1849 and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention” [2] Turner served several terms in the state legislature where his abilities as a statesman shone brightly.
Sources and records of John Turner's date and place of death have not been located.
