Biography

Carmina was born to Giuseppe Turco and Madalina Bruni on 13 Jun 1835 in the town of Belsito, part of the Cosenza district of the province of Calabria, Italy. She was baptized the next day, on 14 Jun 1835.^[1]

She met and married Saverio Richichi, and together they had 4 children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to carry on their line.

After having their children were adults, perhaps urged by the marriage of their son Raffaele in January of 1894, Saverio and Carmina finally made it offical, and got married in Paterno Calabro on 15 February 1894. Witnesses at their wedding were Vincenzo Terzi and Gaetano Florio.^[2]. Interestingly, a note at the end of the marriage record indicates that this marriage legitimizes the status of their children born outside of marriage, according to the appropriate article of the Civil Code, after which all four children are named, just to be clear.
