George Washington Troxell, son of Daniel & Catherine (Halfacre) Troxel was born about 1811 according to the 1850 US Census, but is listed 10 years younger in the 1870 and 1880 census.

He married Isabelle Faris before 1860.

1860 Census, Washington County, Virginia; George (age 38), Isabella (age 32) and their six children.^[1]

He enlisted with Company I of the 6th Virginia Infantry during the American Civil War.^[2]

Appearing on the 1852 Personal Property Tax List in Washington County, Virginia were: Washington Troxell and Greenville Troxell^[3]

Appearing on the 1868 Personal Property Tax List in Washington County Virginia (Upper District) were: Geo. W. Troxell, Francis Troxell and Green B. Troxell^[4]
