Biography

Elizabeth's birth and parentage are uncertain. Two conflicting accounts are given :

1. She is recorded in one source as the daughter of John and Elizabeth Dierdorff Trimmer. Her parents had hired Jacob Hollinger, who she would later marry.^[1] However an appendix to the same source (pp.159-160/215 in the pdf) identifies her as Elizabeth Ensminger Trimmer, daughter of John Trimmer (1750-1832) and "Christinia ? (1748-1823".
2. She is recorded elsewhere as Elizabeth Ensminger Trimmer, born 15 Oct 1777 in Washington Twp, York, PA, daughter of John Trimmer and Christina Ensminger. ^[2] (Note that no evidence has been located to support identifying Elizabeth's middle name as Ensminger, and it is unclear that John Trimmer's wife was named Christina Ensminger.)

Both sources agree that she married Jacob Hollinger ^[1] (1772-1826) in 1795.^[2] Their children were :

1. Daniel (1795-1859) m. Catherine Dellinger (1796-1872) ^[2] - Either Daniel was born within 4 months of his parents' marriage, or else there is an error in Bell's account of the dates
2. Elizabeth b.1796 m. (1) George Hoffman (2) Peters ^[2]
3. Esther (1798-1861) m. John Raffensburger (1796-1875) ^[2]
4. Susanna (1801/1807-1861) m. John Burgard (1803-1876) ^[1][2]
5. Mary (Nellie) (1802-1865) m. Samuel Trimmer (1800-1865) ^[2]
6. Anna Marie (1809-1900) m. Ludwig Lewis Schisler (1807-1853) ^[2]
7. Jacob Jr b.c.1811 ^[2]
8. John (1814-1885) m. Elizabeth Shaffer (1811-1874) ^[2]
9. Benjamin (1817-1901) m. Susanna Lease (1812-1869) ^[2]
10. Joseph (1817-1885) m. Anna Mary Magdalena Asper (1816-1905) ^[2]
11. Louisa (Lucy) (1821-1907) m. (1) Samuel Burgard (1819-1867) (2) Joseph Trone (1814-1889) ^[2]

Elizabeth died on 24 Jun 1851 in Washington, York, PA and was buried in the Dierdorff Cemetery. ^[2]
