Elex, the 8th of 16 siblings, was born in 1921, the son of Elex Abraham Tribble and Livia Robertson.

He married Corinne Brown.[1] No marriage record found.

He worked for Hat Creek CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) Co 5446 when he registered for the WWII draft. Elex enlisted in the marines on 15 August 1942. He was wounded in action, probably on Saipan.[2] He was transported aboard the U.S.S. Fremont to aircraft carrier U.S.S. Shipley Bay for the mainland. He was awarded a Purple Heart Medal in January 1945.

U.S.S. Fremont

USS Fremont (APA-44) was a Bayfield-class attack transport that served with the US Navy during World War II. Fremont was launched 31 March 1943 by Ingalls Shipbuilding, Pascagoula, Mississippi; as Sea Corsair, placed in partial commission between 30 May 1943 and 11 June 1943, and commissioned in full 23 November 1943 Captain C. V. Conlan in command. [5]

U.S.S. Shipley Bay

USS SHIPLEY BAY was the 31st CASABLANCA - class escort aircraft carrier. The USS Shipley Bay (CVE-85) was named after a bay in southwest Alaska. Shipley Bay received two battle stars for World War II service.[6]
