Biography
Samuel Tressel was the son of George Franklin Tressel and Katherine Shuster. He was born on the Tressel homestead in Warren Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The homestead was willed to his father, George Franklin Tressel by his father-in-law, Daniel Shuster. They were the parents of 14 children, 11 of whom married and raised families.
He married Elizabeth Sparks on January 24, 1839. Her father, Ephraim Lloyd Sparks, came from Fayette County, Pennsylvania and settled on the northeast quarter of Section 9 in Warren Township in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Ephraim Sparks lived in Warren Township the rest of his life.
Samuel and Elizabeth Tressel are buried in the Tressel Cemetery on the farm of the lat G.F. Tressel in the northeast quarter of Section 36 in Warren Township in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.
Samuel was born in 1814.
