Biography

Internet geek by profession, amateur photographer, ham radio operator, also interested in local history.

I was born in the Palatinate area of Germany and grew up in Schifferstadt where I lived until the age of 20. Attended Karlsruhe University, got a Master in CS, started working in the Internet industry.

Now I live in the Frankfurt area.

I became interested in Family research when I heard the story of Wilhelm Tremmel who was "involved" with Separatists in the 1920s and had to leave his home.

Main areas of genealogical interest:

  • Schifferstadt, Palatinate, Germany (where I am from)
  • Waldsee, Palatinate, Germany (where my paternal ancestors are from)
  • Hödingen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany (where my mothers ancestors are from)

My grandmother was a Maurer from Schifferstadt. I see we are both defended from Bernard and Maximus Maurer! In fact, we are share at least 12 of the same lines:

- > Maximus Maurer (1895) - Bernard Maurer (1660)

- > Maria Eva Sattel (1695) - Joh. Georg Sattel (1670)

- > Catharina Elisabeth Schuster (1735) - Joh. Michael Schuster (1700) - Michael Schuster (1680)

- > Ma. Felicitas Stahl (1711) - Francis Stahl (1685)

- > Jacob Berkel (1690) - Johannes Michael Berkel (1669)

- > Ma. Felicitas Neff (1699) - Joh. Georg Neff (1673)

- > Hieronymus Eckrich (1677) - Joh. Eckrich (1660)

- > Anastasius Jacobus (1678)

- > Maria Cath. Lang (1680) - Joh. Wilhelm Lang (1650)

- > Benedict Remmel (1680)

Hi Wolfgang!

I am so happy to "meet" you and share the Shifferstadt field of Wikitree with you. I did not realize that you, yourself, actually grew up there! How fascinating! My ancestors emigrated from there to Michigan in the early half of the 1800s, and lived there for centuries before that.

Thus my interest in the many families of Schifferstadt. I think I must be related to ALL of them in one way or another!  :) So I spend a lot of my free time picking away at untangling the threads and piecing the families together here on Wikitree - along with you!  :)

Liz (recently moved from Southern California to Northern Idaho.)
