EARLY DAY SETTLER DIED HERE SUNDAY-Christ Treichel, Aged 83 Years Died at Memorial Hospital After a Few Days' Illness-Christ Treichel, pioneer resident of this county and well known throughout his home community died at Memorial hospital in this city early Sunday morning. Taken ill a few days ago he was brought to the hospital from his home near Lockhart Saturday, but passed away several hours later. Death was due to pneumonia. Born in Germany on July 25, 1853, Mr Treichel was 83 years, 4 months and 25 days old at the time of his death. After spending his early youth in his native country he came to the United States and located first at Red Wing, where he resided for a few years. About fifty-two years ago he came to Norman county and homesteaded a farm north of Ada, which has been his home since that time. On March 4, 1886 he was united in marriage to Julia Andree, who has preceded him in death, having died a year ago this month at the age of 74 years. He is survived by five sons and one daughter, Fred, Paul and Herman of Lockhart, Emil Treichel of Waubun, Bennie triechel of Winnibigoshish Lake, Minn. and Mrs George Malakowsky of Waubun. Two sons in addition to his wife have preceeded him in death. Other survivors include three brothers, Albert of Bemidji, Fred and Otto in the state of Washington, 23 grandchildren as well as a number of other relatives. Mr. Treichel was a charter member of the Immanuel Luthern church of Pleasant View, and took an active part in church affairs as weel as local civic affairs during the early days. He was highly respected by all who knew him, and his death removes another of the hardy pioneer settlers of this community. Funeral services were conducted at Pleasant View church Wednesday afternoon of this week with Rev. E. O. Kunz officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
