Biography

Robert Tompson was a carpenter. ^[1] He married Elizabeth Newcombe on 15 May 1722 in Harlaxton, Lincolnshire. ^[2] Robert and Elizabeth had two children together, both baptized in Harlaxton, as follows:

1. John Tompson (1722 - 1756). ^{[3] [4]} John married Susanna Christian in 1744 in Great Ponton. ^[5]
2. Ann Tompson (1726 - 1796). ^{[1] [6]} Ann married John Bett in 1756 in Harlaxton. ^[7]

Robert died 2 years after the birth of Ann. ^[8] He was buried on 25 Feb 1728 in Harlaxton. ^[8]

Research notes

Robert’s parents are undetermined. It’s possible they were John Thompson & Ann Willingson who were married in Baston, Lincolnshire in 1671 ^[9] and had a son Robert in Stamford in 1689. ^[10] But other candidates are also possible, including the following, all baptized in Lincolnshire: Bap 11 Aug 1691, Robert Thompson, Beelsby, s/o Thomas & Elizabeth; 10 Nov 1701, Robert Thompson, Greatford, s/o Henry; 16 Aug 1702, Robert Thompson, Beelsby, s/o Thomas & Elizabeth; 13 Feb 1703, Robert Thompson, Crowle, s/o George & Elizabeth; 12 Jul 1703, Robert Thompson, Greatford, s/o Robt; and 30 Dec 1705, Robert Tomson, Sempriingham, s/o Joseph & Mary.
