THOMPSON Thomas 1851 marriage to Ann Shannon.

When he was 24, he was convicted for housebreaking, stealing property worth 20 pounds and sentenced to 10 years.

Thomas was transported to Australia, arriving 24 July 1850 on the 'Blenheim 3' from Plymouth after 105 days at sea. 1

In 1851, with permission, he married Ann Jane Shannon a fresh-faced auburn-haired convict from Tyrone Ireland.

She was transported to Australia on the "Waverly 3' arriving in Van Dieman's Land 25 October 1847. had broken a window and stolen a dress. 1

In 1853,Thomas was given a Ticket of Leave and after paying for his passage etc received a Conditional Pardon. Ann and Thomas had three children. George born 6 March 1853, Mary Ann and Thomas Edward. The birth of Mary Ann has not been located and the death of The family register enters the death of Mary Ann 1872. 1 1882 at age 57 Thomas (1824-1895) married Emma Webb who was 21 years old, and went on to have a further 7 children. A carpenter by trade, by 1895 he was Inspector of Timber and when he died his workmates were at his funeral to honour him. 1

Tompson-256 and Tompson-147 appear to represent the same person because: Both Thomas Tompson variants married Emma Webb in Sydney on the same date. Norwich birth data incorrect.
