Hi Megan,

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.

Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.

If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.

We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

Hi Megan,

It is once again time for our annual Scotland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

•If you would like to continue as a project member •If you are happy with your current teams or would you like to join a different team •How much time per month (on average) you spend working on Scottish profiles •Anything you’d like the Scotland Project to do more of in the future

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you are no longer able to participate in the Scotland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

On behalf of the Scotland Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve Scottish profiles!

Sheena - Scotland Project Membership Coordinator

Hi Megan,

It is once again time for our annual Ireland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

  1. If you would like to continue as an Ireland Project member. If your answer is yes, please tell us if you are happy with your current team, or if you would prefer to join a different one. If you are currently participating in more than one team we would appreciate you ranking them in their order of importance to you, from highest priority to lowest. This information will be helpful as we consider possible future changes to our team structure.
  2. In the past, the project has had a very minimal membership requirement (one contribution per year) for badged members to meet. Do you believe this is adequate, or should this requirement be increased? What do you believe would be a reasonable commitment to expect from all project members?
  3. How active have you been in the Ireland Project over the past year? Please choose one of the following options: a) I normally spend 1-5 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. b) I normally spend 6-10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. c) I spend over 10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. d) I am not able to contribute every month but have spent approximately ________ hours during the past year improving Irish profiles.
  4. Please provide feedback on any things you’d like to see the project do more of in the future.

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you no longer are able to participate in the Ireland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

Many thanks for all that so many of you have contributed to the project in the past year, and very special thanks to those who answered the project’s call and gave generously of their time to be part of Team Seanchaithe during the most recent connect-a-thon. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Megan,

It's time for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. Thank you so much for contributing to the project and Australian profiles on WikiTree during the last year. We really appreciate you!

If you would like to stay in the project, please reply to this message or send me a private message to let us know that you would like to stay on. Alternatively, if your WikiTree and research interests have moved away from Australia, please let us know and we can remove you from the membership list for the moment. You will, of course, be very welcome to rejoin the project down the track whenever you want to.

We are also keen to know if you want to make any changes to the team or teams that you want to focus on. Take a look on Australia Project Teams to see what teams there are to choose from. If you want to discuss this, or have any questions or suggestions about the Australia Project we'd love to hear your ideas.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to us!

G'Day Megan,

My name is James R. (Jim) Greiner. I am a recent graduate of the Tartan Trail. My mother was born a Turnbull. I have requested I be added to the Roxburghshire Team and the Clan Turnbull Team.

I see you are already a member of the Roxburghshire Team and you have Turnbull ancestors on your maternal side. I also do see you are on a number of projects.

It is not my desire or intent to add to your burden, but I would ask you to seriously consider jumping on board the Clan Turnbull Team. Hear me out... Today, there are NO members or team leader. I am (obviously) willing to be the sole "Team" member. However, if you would be willing to join me, I would be AOK with whatever you can do, even if it is as little as one hour per year. It would (literally) be one more hour per year than anyone else is currently doing(*).

Give it some thought. If you want to join me, let me know. We do seem to share a common interest in both the name and the region (from whence they came).

Thank You for your time.

God Bless,

James R. (Jim) Greiner (Greiner-866)

  • Disclaimer: I know this is an exaggeration. I am sure there ARE people making improvements to Turnbull profiles. I keep an eye on that. Sadly, none of them seem to be members of the Scotland Project.
posted by James Greiner
Hi James - my apologies if I have not yet responded to this message... I can not see if I have!

I am happy to assist the Turnbull Clan - I am finding my Turnbulls to be very recalcitrant in revealing their true heritage back in Cavers, pre 1799!!!

Megan,

You've been added to the member list on the Clan Turnbull Team. Our Team Page is at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Clan_Turnbull

No pressure. Do what you can when you can. That is what I do. In fact, right now, my efforts are on the Nelson family from Edinburgh.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

God Bless,

Hi Megan,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

  • If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.
  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

Hi Megan! I hope this message finds you well

It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!

This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's ""Year of Connections"" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.

We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:

  • If you have not yet signed up to help on one of the project's teams, which team(s) would you be interested in joining?
  • How often should we provide a Project Newsletter?
  • Have you participated in the Tartan Trail? If not, is this something you'd be interested in doing?
  • Do you have a question(s) that we could add to a Frequently Asked Questions page?
  • Any suggestions or ideas you have on ways to improve the Scotland Project in general

We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.

Thank you for all you do to help the Scotland Project become a knowledge hub for Scottish genealogical research! We wish you all the best in 2022!

Sincerely, Amy Gilpin on behalf of the Scotland Project Leaders

Hi Amy - things are going well for me and my research, but I am sad to say, not so much on the Scottish side as I am learning to use the new templates being created in the Australia project, and coming to grips with the WikiTree Apps which I have only just found.

I have to say that I do enjoy the Google Group emails, which enable me to keep up with what the Scotland Project members are doing. I do have a Discord account, but I do not have it running all the time, but as you know, you and I (and others) have had some good communications using that service.

In answer to your bullet points: = which team(s) would you be interested in joining? I would be very interested in a one-name study (to supplement my own ONS) on the TURNBULL/TRIMBLE/etc. Name, and a Location study for ROXBURGHSHIRE. = a Project Newsletter - would probably be most helpful if not monthly, then quarterly. = Tartan Trail - I would be interested if I had the time to focus on the instruction!!!!

Other than the above, I have no questions or improvement suggestions for the Scotland Project other than to say "Keep up the good work"!

Hi Megan,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out our annual check-in to see how you are going in the project. We'd really like to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles over the past year! We think we've made great progress in 2020/21 with your assistance.

Please could you reply to this message, to let us know if you would like to stay on in the project and if you are happy with your current role and team involvement. If you would like to do something additional or different, take a look on the Australia Project page to see what other options there are.

It would also be great to get any feedback or suggestions that you have to improve the project.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Margaret, thank you for your kind words, but I think they are unwarranted in my case, as I barely understand how to do things after all these years on WikiTree!!!! LOL!!!

I am happy to remain a 'foot-soldier' in the family history 'fight', if that's ok?

A suggestion that may have already been implemented - for every suggestion that is acted on, such as "How to create a Military Category", would it be useful to have an index page of all the Australia Project Categories that point to the place where the Category actually resides (Pioneers, Military, etc.)?

I know I get confused with the different links I have to traverse to get to the place where the Category Template is actually stored!

I have yet to find a way to Tag or Pin the pages I am interested in using within WikiTree, and don't get me started about my 600+ browser bookmarks!!!! LOL!!!!

Thank you again for reaching out to me!

See you in the trenches!!!!

Hello

It’s time for a Project check-in!

Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

Hi Megan,

The Australia Project leadership team are carrying out a check-in to see how you are going in the project and especially to thank you for all your work on Australian profiles on WikiTree. We really value your participation.

Please could you get back to me by private message to let me know if you are happy with your current role and team involvement within the project or if you would like to do something additional or different. Currently you are on the Assisted immigrants, Born in the Colony, Earl Grey, NSW and Free Settlers teams. If you would like a change, you can check on the Australia Project page to see what other options there are.

It would also be great to hear any feedback and any suggestions that you have to improve the project. On a practical note, if you are a member of the google group, are you receiving messages ok? Also do you have Australia as one of the tags you are following on the G2G? Don't forget to add it in if you don't have that tag yet.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Megan

As I have recently taken-on the role as the NSW Team Leader I thought I would just drop a quick note to thank you and to seek your input.

Firstly, I would love to know if there are any areas that you have an interest in looking at. Some of them might already be listed on the Free Space Page: Australia, Project Management - Proposed New Topics.

Secondly, I would love to know how you would prefer to be engaged and kept up-to-date. I would prefer to keep this as simple as possible and generating minimal emails etc. (if you’re like me you already receive too many!). Whatever your preferences are would be fine.

Thanks in advance
