John Tidwell was born in Appalachia, in Alabama.

John C. Tidwell was born August 8, 1843 to Edward Tidwell and Nancy Brown in New Market, Alabama.^[1]

He married Tyona Davis on December 18, 1867 in Madison County, Alabama. Their children were:
