Biography

Mary was born about 1833 and baptised 20 Oct 1833 in Mount Hawke, St Agnes, Cornwall, daughter of Thomas (a miner) and Christiana Tickel[1]

In the 1851 census she is a servant in the household of Frances Gill in St Agnes[2]

Richard Tippet married Mary Tickel at Truro Register Office on 22 March 1856. Richard was 21, a tin miner, resident of Mithian, Saint Agnes, son of John Tippet (a miner). Mary was 22, of Mount Hawke, Saint Agnes, daughter of Thomas Tickel (a miner). Witnesses were Richard Piper and Thomas Tickel[3][4]

Richard and Mary Tippet emigrated to Australia on the Hooghly, leaving Plymouth 23 April 1856, arriving Port Adelaide on 25 July 1856. Richard was 21, a miner from "Truro", Cornwall. Mary was 22.[5][6]

Mary passed away in 1911 and is buried in Boroondara General Cemetery, Kew, Victoria.[7]
