Biography

Octavia Bernice Thrall was born in 1841 in Brown Township, Delaware, Ohio, the daughter of William K. Thrall and Phoebe Thurston. Octavia married Tilden Seymour Scott on 19 November 1863 in Delaware County, Ohio. They had four children.[1]

In 1850, the Thrall family lived in Brown Township, Delaware County, Ohio. All members of the household were born in Ohio. The family included W.K. Thrall, 40, a (wood) joiner; his wife, Phoebe, 36; and their daughter, Octavia B., 9, in school. Living nearby was the family of Norton Thurston, 33, a farmer (wife, Rebecca, 29; three children, and one other). NOTE: Norton Thurston was the brother of Phoebe (Thurston) Thrall. [2]

In 1860, they lived in Brown Township, Ohio. William Thrall, 50, was a mechanic, who had $1500 in real estate and the same amount in personal estate. His wife, Phoebe, was 47. Their daughter, Octavia, was 19 years old. [3]

Tilden S. Scott and Octavia B. Thrall were married on 19 November 1863 in Delaware County, Ohio. T.H. Wilson officiated. [4] [5]

In 1870, the Scott family lived in Brown, Delaware, Ohio. All members of the household were born in Ohio. The family included Tilden S. Scott, 31, a farmer, with $15,500 in real estate and $4770 in personal estate; his wife, Octavia B., 29; their sons, Harry S., 5; and William T., 1. [6]

In 1880, the Scotts lived in Brown, Ohio. All members of the household were born in Ohio. The family included Tilden Scott, 41, a (livestock?) stock broker; his wife, Octavia, 39; their children, Harry, 15, in school; Willie, 11, in school; and Toot (daughter, Lillian), 7. Living nearby were Octavia’s parents, Kilbourne Thrall, 70, a house joiner; and his wife, Phoebe, 68. [7]

In 1900, the Scott family lived in Brown Township, Delaware, Ohio. They owned their farm without a mortgage. All members of the household were born in Ohio. The family included T.S. Scott, 61, born Jan. 1839, a farmer; his wife of 36 years, Octavia B., 59, b. April 1841, a farmer, who had had three children, all of whom were living; their son, William T., 31, b. Oct. 1869, an engineer; and daughter, Lillian B., 27, b. Nov. 1873. Living nearby was A. Thrall, b. NY in Mar. 1816; and his wife of 60 years, Mary J., 81, b. NJ in Sept. 1819 (unknown relation to Octavia B. Thrall Scott). [8]

In 1910, the Scott family lived on their farm in Brown, Delaware, Ohio. They owned the farm without a mortgage. The household included Tilden S. Scott, 71, a farmer; his wife of 46 years, Octavia B., 68, who had had three children, all of whom were living; and their son, William, 39, a repair shop machinist. [9]

Octavia B. Scott was born 26 April 1841 in Delaware, Ohio, the daughter of William Kilberne (sic) Thrall (born in Licking, Ohio) and Phoebe Thurston (born in Delaware, Ohio). Octavia was married, and a resident of Brown Township, Delaware, Ohio, when she died, aged 70, on 9 May 1911 in Brown Township. She was buried at Green Mound Cemetery. [10]

Octavia Bernice (Thrall) Scott is buried with her parents, her husband, and their two sons, Harry and William, and other family, at Green Mound Cemetery, Kilbourne, Ohio. Octavia was born and died in Brown Township, Delaware County, Ohio. [11]
