Biography

Daniel Thornton is a part of US Black heritage.

Daniel was born in 1876 in Texas. He was the son of Jim Thornton and Adeline Fifer. In 1880 he was living with his parents and siblings in Kerr County, Texas.^[1]

In 1920 Daniel was living with wife Thanea and three daughters in Nogales, Arizona.^[2]

Daniel married Trancito Perez in 1927 in Santa Cruz County, Arizona.^[3]

In 1940 Daniel and Trancito were living with 6 children in Nogales, Arizona. (Some of the children were likely Daniel's from an earlier marriage).

He passed away in 1957 in Nogales, Arizona.^[4] He was buried in the City of Nogales Cemetery in Arizona.^[5]

According to his obituary, Daniel had been the caretaker for many years of the Nogales City Cemetery. He was survived by his wife Trancito, one son, and five daughters.^[6]
