Biography

Thomas THORLEY, son of John THORLEY and Mary WHEYWAL, was born in 1748.(*1) He married Mary ALSOP on 30 April 1770 in St. Margaret's Parish Church, Draycott Le Moors, Staffordshire, England.(*2) They were married by J. Bith. Thomas and Mary both made their marks in the marriage register with a cross. Ann Gosling and William Latham were the witnesses. Thomas made a will on 24 December 1813.(*3) He left a dwelling house at Boundary to his son John that was currently occupied by Thomas son William. He left a dwelling house at Boundary to his son Thomas that was currently in Thomas juniors possession. He left a house at Boundary to his son William that was currently occupied by Thomas son in law John Chell. He left a house at Boundary to his son Joseph that was also currently occupied by Thomas son in law John Chell. He left an untenanted house at boundary to his daughter Susanna Chell that had been built by her husband John Chell. He also leaves several crofts and prices of land at Boundary to his children John, Thomas, William, Francis, Joseph, Susannah the wife of John Chell, Ann the wife of William Booth, Elizabeth the wife of Thomas Weston, Ellen Thorley, Mary Thorley and Prudence Thorley. In 1813 Thomas was resident in Boundary, Dilhorne, Staffordshire, England.(*3) In 1813 he was a yeoman.(*3) In 1814 he was resident in Boundary.(*4) He was buried on 5 May 1814 in All Saints Parish Church, Dilhorne, Staffordshire, England.(*4) He died on 12 May 1814.
