This business failed approximately 1920, after the unexplained disappearance of Herbert Tera, under unusual circumstances. Edward supported his family with a job as a Stockbroker and Telegraph Operator for a Brokerage House and was transferred to several locations across the country. While working for the brokerage house, Edward moved his family to Vincennes, Indiana. He then took a position in Monroe, Louisiana, and later in Jackson, Mississippi. Later, after the stock market crash in 1929 and the during the Depression of the early 30's, he moved his family back to Clarksville, Tennessee, where they still owned a home. He opened a small, freestanding, Grocery Store and Typewriter repair shop in the front yard of their home.
