Biography

James was born in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland on 2nd June 1869. He was the son of John Thomson and Isabella (Fryer) Thomson.^[1]

In the 1871 census James (age 1) was the son of John Thompson in Seghill, Northumberland, England.^[2]

In the 1881 census James (age 11), Scholar, was the son of John Thomson on Blue Quarries Low Rd, Gateshead, Durham, England.^[3]

In the 1891 census James (age 21), Coal Miner, was the single son of John Thompson in Boldon, Durham, England.^[4]

In the 1911 census James (age 41, mistranscribed as 1), Colliery Labourer Above Ground, was the sone of John Thomson in Lanchester, Durham, England.^{[5] [6]}
