OBITUARY MRS. D. L. ARCHER. The death occurred at the Lower Clar ence Hospital on Saturday afternoon of a highly respected resident of Woodford Island in the person of Mrs. Margaret Archer, the esteemed wife of Cr. D. L. of Roberts Creek. Mrs. Archer had been in an indifferentstate of health for some time and, as her condition became worse, she entered the hospital some three weeks ago, but, not withstanding every care and attention, she passed away as stated. Mrs. Archer was' a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Thompsfon, who were among the early pioneers of Wood ford Island. She was born at Woodford Island 66 years ago. As a girl, she at tended the Woodford Leigh Public School and was one of the ex-pupils present when that school celebrated its jubilee last year. On her marriage, Mrs. Archer settled at Roberts Creek with her husband and resided there until her serious illness some weeks ago. She was respected by everyone who knew her and admired for her kindly disposition, and her neigh bourly action's in time of sickness and trouble, as was borne out by the large attendance of mourners, who came from all parts of the river to pay their last respects at the graveside on Sunday. Mrs. Archer was fond of her home life and family and lived to see her large, family settled in comfortable circumstances in different spheres of life. She is survived by her husband, four daughters and seven sons to whom the sympathy of the whole district goes out in their great loss. The daughters are Mesdames J. Giillespie (Cosy Corner, Richmond River), S. Drew .(Lower Southgate), and R. Donohue (Brushgrove), and Miss Elsie Archer (Roberts Creek). Sons living are Messrs Gordon Archer (Woodford Island), David (Lawrence), HaroId (Maclean), Clarence Ilarwill), John, Hunter and Sidney (Roberts Creek). Another son, Varney, paid the supreme sacrifice in the Great War, being killed in France. Mesdames M. J. Stone (Woodford Dale) and F. Blanch (Coldstream) are sisters, and Messrs Michael, James Henry (Woodford Island), Edward (Queensland), John Albert (Grafton) are brothers. The funeral which was largely at tended, took place from the Church of England, Maclean, on Sunday afternoon, a service being held prior to the funeral. The remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Maclean cemetery, Rev. C. Rowe and Rev. Cham pion officiating. The six sons of deceased were the pall-bearers. The president, councillors and staff of Harwood Shire Council were among those present.
