Birth
- 16 Aug 1854 Mary Thomas daughter of James Thomas and Martha Thomas, formerly Lomax, of Royal Oak Yard, Foregate St, Chester. James was a slater and plasterer. [1]

- 1881 Royal Oak Entry Chester with parents James and Martha Thomas age 26, married. With her daughter Alice age 3. Also in the household is an infant grandchild of James Thomas age 3 days, with surname Thomas but no first name yet. Will be Mary's son Samuel William Tallis.

Note
- Mary used the Pemberton surname in 1871 census and at her marriage in 1877., where she stated her father was James Pemberton. He is clearly her father James Thomas. Both are slaters. The 1939 register confirms we have the correct Mary as her date of birth is given. Her father James also used the Pemberton name when he married.

- 1945 age 90[4]
