Note
Mary used the Pemberton surname in 1871 census and at her marriage in 1877., where she stated her father was James Pemberton. He is clearly her father James Thomas. Both are slaters. The 1939 register confirms we have the correct Mary as her date of birth is given. Her father James also used the Pemberton name when he married.
