Wallace Tender served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: Aug 9, 1862 Mustered out: Jun 13, 1865 Side: USA Regiment(s): Company C, 118th New York Infantry
The Clinton County, NY, Civil War Records 1861-1865 Facebook Page notes the following: Wallace, was wounded during his 3-years’ service with the 118th Infantry and died in 1911 of a combination of heart and kidney disease. In a strange coincidence, it was Francois D’Avignon, the surgeon of the 96th Infantry, his father’s old regiment, who pronounced him dead. In his old age, Wallace had taken to wearing his old blue army coat around Au Sable Forks and Jay and was a familiar figure when he was out walking.
