Breonna Taylor was fatally shot by police officers in her Louisville, Kentucky apartment on March 13, 2020. Her death and the handling of her case contributed to widespread protests against police brutality.

Breonna "Bareo"[1] was born on the 5th of June 1993 to Tamika LaShawn Palmer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was raised by her mother in Louisville, Kentucky.[2][3] Breonna graduated from Western High School in Louisville in 2011. She then went to the University of Kentucky to study.[4][5]

Breonna Taylor worked at two emergency clinics, University of Louisville Jewish Hospital and Norton Healthcare. As indicated by her staff records, she worked for the city of Louisville from January to November 2016 and she was elevated to be an Emergency clinical expert [2] on June of 2016, which her folks said she was pleased with. [6] Breonna was an emergency medical technician.[7] Breonna was working at KentuckyOne Health University of Louisville Hospital - Louisville, Kentucky at the time of her death.[8]

On March 13, 2020, just after midnight, she was at home with her boyfriend when the police bashed in the door to her apartment. Gunfire broke out and Breonna was shot about 7 or 8 times by the Louisville police.[9] She passed away in the early morning hours on the 13th of March 2020. Breonna's death was caused by a miscalculation by police officers of Louisville, Kentucky. [10] [11] The police activity that night was appallingly flawed.

Breonna had a younger sister who lived with her and who was not at home that night.[12]
