William was born in 1832. William married Emma L. Wing in 1862. William enlisted in Company H of the 103rd OVI on 9 Aug 1862 as a Private. He mustered out with the company on 12 Jun 1865. William and Emma were divorced in 1878. William remarried Emma on 28 Mar 1886 in Lorain, Ohio. The 1890 Veteran's Census shows that William had been shot through both thighs and he was living in La Porte, Lorain, Ohio. William was a Farm Laborer. He passed away in 1910.
