Hello Martin

I appreciate all the work you have been doing on categorisation in England, but please do not create or re-create categories for urban parishes in England, which go against the established policy on England location categories: English Place Name Categories.

If you wish this policy to be reviewed, then please initiate a discussion in the England and Categorization Projects in the usual way, rather than acting unilaterally.

Thank you

Stephen (England Project Coordinator for Categories)

Thanks for your information about Lucy Ellen (Tichborne) Townsley, that her father was Henry Joseph Tichborne 8th Bart. (1779-1845). I am following the Tichbornes in Canada and ultimately to New Castle PA USA. I have inherited Tichborne as my middle name.

Noticed your interest in the Eystons and others from East Hendred. Have you seen Tony Hadland's book on Thames Valley Papists? It's downloadable from https://hadland.wordpress.com/2012/06/27/thames-valley-papists-the-book/

It appears well researched though unfortunately it isn't referenced but does have an extensive bibliography. It has quite a bit on various members of the Eyston family. Helen

Hi Martin,

follow-up post: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1612056/proposal-for-multilingual-banat-categories

Maybe during of after creating the new categories, we should build some task-force to search for not categorized profiles to put in there.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi Martin,

I started this discussion, because the topic keeps bugging me, and I would love to hear your opinion there: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1605788/batschka-and-banat-categories-serbia-romania-and-hungary

Hi Martin,

I saw your neat two language Banat village categories like Category:Perjámos_-_Periam,_Banat. Is that your creation or was there some prior discussion about them? After creating more Banat profiles of people with German ancestry mostly from German family book, I keep thinking about our rule of "using their conventions" and I'm asking myself, if we should not create parallel German language categories, like "Perjamosch, Banat" in this case. How do you feel about it?

Kind regards from Black Forest

In order for profiles to be found as part of Yorkshire in various reports, the locations need to be set up as town, county, country - with commas separting each element. There is currently an effort to find profiles not currently connected to county teams so there is a lot of location modification happening right now. Regarding country, England is sufficient. UK or United Kingdom are completely optional. Yorkshire is especially hard. I was following what someone else said she did, but I believe I over stepped on profiles you manage. If you place Riding information before a comma, then Yorkshire, England profiles will be part of the some of the structure to help manage and find profiles, and I think information you want will be there. If this is unclear or you want more discussion please post in G2G. We are all learning how to work with how to both use appropriate locations for the place and time, and work with what computer programs need. I hope this makes sense. Oh, you can of course format the locations any way you wish in the biography.

Hi Martin, this category, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Bela_Crkva%2C_Banat needs a parent category or categories so it is linked to the category structure. Thanks for your help. Regards, Margaret, Categorization Project volunteer.
Marin,

Please stop changing the name of Kis-Lomnicz, Szepes, Hungary. It is a legitimate, historical, place name.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the England Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See:https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources).

I have worked out some things but not others. For example, I have just created a profile for my grand-father, Fenwick William Styan. It says: "No known carriers of Fenwick's Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA have taken yDNA or mtDNA tests. No close relatives have taken a 23andMe, AncestryDNA, or Family Tree DNA "Family Finder" test."

How do I change that to say that Fenwick's grandson (myself) has y-chromosome and family finder results?

Hi Martin,

Because of the way the messaging service works at WikiTree, Andrea didn't get notified about your question. A greeter might notice it as we attend to our duties like I did (thanks for signing the Honor Code, by the way) but there's no guarantee. That's why it's recommended to reply to comments on your own profile or ask questions for one person in the public comments on their profile.

It looks like you have already figure out how to add your DNA testing information and I see that it is showing on your great-grandfather's profile too. If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let us know by using the "reply" link under our comments or by clicking our names to visit our profiles. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.

See you in the branches,

Hi Debi

The DNA information seems to have been extended automatically to all my identified male-line relations. Probably this is how your system works. I had expected to click on something and get immediate results. Thanks Martin C. Styan

Yes, the DNA process only runs once per day for all profiles which have new tests or links. With over six millions profiles that have test information, immediate isn't really feasible.

Your website is one of the most annoying ever. Whatever I do, it seems to lead either nowhere or back to where I started. I am beginning to wonder if it is worth it.

I have y-chomosome and family finder DNA results, but all that happens when I try to do anything about them on this website is that I go round in circles.
