Thomas Strode was born on 20 June 1811 in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England, the son of Jane (Bryant) Strode and Thomas Strode.^{[citation needed]}

He married Mary Margaret Emma Hitchcock on 16 May 1836 at Willow Cottage, 45 Pitt St, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.^[1] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}
