Enoch Stringfellow is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A207163.
Enoch Stringfellow was born 20 October 1746 to parents William Stringfellow and Sarah Elkins in King George County, Colony of Virginia.
About 1770 Enoch married Amy Rush, daughter of Benjamin Rush. On 11 August 1774 Benjamin Rush gave land to Enoch Stringfellow as follows: "A Deed from Benjamin Rush to Enoch Stringfellow was proved by the Oath of Robert Peyton and on motion the same is Ordered to be Registered." [1]
Enoch is listed in the Georgia Tax Index at least the following two times and probably many more. He is listed in both 1789 and 1797 in Greene County, Georgia. [2]
Enoch also owned land in Wilkes County, Georgia; this land was sold after his death. It is highly possible that Enoch lived in the part of Wilkes County that was partitioned off and became Greene County. A part of his land then remained in Wilkes County.
The Administrator of Enoch Stringfellow's estate was his son-in-law, Ezekiel Fears, who married Alcey Stringfellow. There is an extensive probate covering both Enoch Stringfellow and his wife Amie Rush Stringfellow. Ezekiel submitted to the court expenses for numerous trips from his residence in Jasper County to Greene County where Enoch and Amie lived.
