Gertrude Stowe was born on October 19, 1880 in Saint-Armand-Est, Missisquoi, Quebec, Canada, daughter of Harvard Tolston Stowe (1847–1933) and Mary Jane Haynes (1852–1921).

Gertrude (20) married Herbert Ephraim Sanders (25) (born on February 9, 1876 in Tariffville, Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut, United States) on August 27, 1901 in New Britain, Hartford.

Immigrated to the US from Canada in 1898 per 1910 US Census.
