Biography

The daughter of Ulysses Grant Stout (1869-1953) and Melissa C. Breese (1873-1951), Carrie Stout was born in Horseheads, New York^[1] in 1910, residing with her family in Lodi, New York.^[2] By 1920, her family lived in Romulus, New York.^[3][4][5] Her siblings included:

1. Melissa E. Stout (1897-1900)
2. Hazel Marie Stout (1903-1990)
3. Louis Gordon Stout (1904-1933)

Carrie married George William Helfman, applying for, and receiving their marriage license in Romulus, New York on April 18, 1934,^[6] with the marriage solemnized by R. D. Van Wagener, Minister, in Hayt's Corners, New York on October 14, 1934.^[7] They took up residence together in Romulus, New York, where Carrie worked as a registered nurse; her husband worked that year as a truck driver.^[8] In 1950, Carrie worked at the Seneca Army Depot as a staff nurse, while her husband worked for Greyhound Bus Lines as a bus driver.^[9]

Widowed in 1962, Carrie Helfman passed away at the age of 81,^[10] residing last in Ovid, New York,^[11] and is buried at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken, New York.^[12]
