Ursula was born about 1783 according to her age at burial, and according to the 1851 census. The Barrington baptisms of her children also suggest that she was the daughter of Mark Storey of Whalton, Northumberland. Mark was baptising children at this time but not one named Ursula. There is just about room for another child between Frances 1 Sep 1782 and Hannah in January 1784 so perhaps the records missed Ursula.
There is a christening record for Ursula, confirming the above. Ursula Storey was the daughter of Mark Story and Frances, and was christened on the 1st of January 1784, in Whalton, Northumberland. [1]
On 2 Nov 1806 Edward Whitfield (bachelor, of this parish) married Uriah Story (spinster, of this parish) at Whitburn, St Mary. Witnesses: Robert Young; David McQueen [2] Though this record is for Uriah, it's plainly the marriage for Ursula and Edward.
On 16 Aug 1812 Mark Whitfield, born 16 Jul 1811, 1st son & 3rd child of Edward Whitfield (carpenter, native of Barnard Castle) by his wife Urcilla [Ursula] late Storey (native of Whalton, Northumberland) was baptised at Monkwearmouth, St Peter.
On 8 Jan 1808 Mary Whitfield, born 28 Sep 1807, 1st daughter of Edward Whitfield (Shore carpenter) by his wife Ercilla [Ursula] Storey (daughter of Mark Storey of Wharton) was baptised at Monkwearmouth, St Peter.
Ursilla was a widow in 1851 living at Sunderland, Low Street with her daughter also named Ursilla. [3]
Funeral at Monkewearmouth St Peter on 12 Aug 1858 Ursula Whitfield, of Wear Street, age: 75 and buried at Mere Knolls cemetery in Sunderland the same day. [4]
