Born at 16 Crescent Cottage in Brighton and baptised 22 March 1867. In 1884, he is listed as being in the Royal Sussex Regiment, Regimental Number 1690. In 1891 was listed as living at 24 Star Street, Paddington, London, as a boarder with the Barsted family. Listed as living with Sarah Ann at 37 Marcus Street in West Ham when married in 1894. In 1901 was in Barking, Essex at 14 Shaftesbury Road and working as a general labourer. His wife Sarah Ann died in 1902. In 1904, listed as living at 63 North Road, Plaistow, Essex. Second marriage to widow Susan White on 26 December 1904 at the Registry Office in West Ham. She supposedly brought two White children into the marriage. In 1911, listed as living back in Brighton at 87 Hanover Terrace and working as a Constructional Engineer and an Uncle to the Packett family there (I have not been able to see how this is possible so the 1911 census could be for the wrong person). In 1914, was listed as being in the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex) Regiment, Regimental Number 3208, and living at 84 Harcourt Road, West Ham, Essex. The fact he has had two regimental numbers implies a break in service between serving in the two different infantry regiments. Recorded as being buried 4 June 1935 in Newham, London, but actual death date is unknown.
