Biography
Hendrik Jacobus was born on 15 June 1878 in Heilbron, Orange Free State; he was the son of Hendrik Jacobus Steyn and Hendrina Cecilia Herbst.[1]
He was 25 years old when he married 24 year old Johanna Christina Minny with whom he had the following children:
- Hendrik Jacobus Steyn, born 20 January 1904
- Wilhelmina Gertruida (Steyn) van Biljon, born 23 January 1906
- Jan Willem Jacobus Steyn, born 25 August 1907
Johanna passed away with the birth of the third child and he then married Jacoba Johanna Magdalena Pretorius in Vrede on 21 October 1908; he was 30 years old and she 28. Children born of this marriage were:
- Petrus Johannes Gerhardus Steyn
- Jacobus Frederik Steyn
Jacoba passed away in 1945; he was 73 years old when he married 59-year-old Elizabeth Fredrika (van Heerden) Moodie in Standerton, Transvaal, on 5 January 1952.[2]
