When Robert John Stewart STEPHENSON was born on November 12, 1897, in Ontario, his father, Robert Stephenson, was 30 and his mother, Catherine Stewart, was 38.
He is in Brock at age 3 in the 1901 Census likely near Blackwater, Ontario with his parents and sister Edna[1] He likely went to the Wick School or the Sunderland Public School.
In the 1911 Census he was living with his parents at 87 River Street in Sunderland, Ontario likely above one of the stores.[2]
He enlisted in the Canadian army on June 15, 1916 in Toronto and was living with his parents at 26 Ashland Ave.[3] He is first in the 170th Battalion[4] but the Canadian Virtual War Memorial[5] states he was in the 58th Battalion[6] when he was killed-in-action.
He died on October 26, 1917, in at the age of 19, and was buried in Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.[7]
His parents were living in Cannington, Ontario at the time of his death. His father, Robert William Stephenson, was a labourer and moved around .
