Dr. Starr was a medical doctor by training, but ended up devoting his life to the study of the Cherokees. His works are often used and referenced today by genealogists and historians.
He was found dead from carbon monoxide poisoning in 1930 at the age of 59. He is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore, Oklahoma. [1]
