I was born in Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, during WW II when my father was in the Navy and overseas. I think my grandfather Newton Speer MD delivered me.
I grew up in a rapidly expanding family. I was the third child, Susan and Mary before me. Then came Martha, Stuart, Clara, Ruthie, Helen and Mark. Nine. I loved growing up in a large family. There’s always someone to play with, someone to talk to.
All of us went to college, and some have advanced degrees. Mark was in the Air Force.
I went to Park College in Parkville Missouri and the University of Iowa. I married Michael Lansdon in 1963. We had three boys and one girl. (listed above). We were divorced in 1975.
John Munson and I were married November 7, 1976. With John’s three children we raised, full and part time, seven children. All were athletes, musicians and sharp students. We now have 13 grandchildren and three great granddaughters.
We will celebrate our 47th anniversary November, 2023.
I am a Christian and we are members of Stts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church LCMS in Houghton, Michigan.
Besides raising kids, John and I have been involved in church, music, writing projects, cross country skiing as well as running, (John only), art (me only) and, of course, genealogy. Our dogs have also been a big part of our lives. I love to read.
I am a 16 year multiple myeloma survivor.
