Review

"In the preparation of this work more than nine hundred question blanks, adapted to four generations, have been employed, chiefly filled, on their return to the author, from family bibles, church and town records, so that the compiler is warranted in saying that by personal search and the assistance of others he has obtained copies of all the records of importance. The genealogical and biographical details thus acquired and displayed in these pages are very abundant. No attempt has been made to trace the English ancestry of the family. The list of Revolutionary soldiers and sailors by the name of Bemis occupies nineteen pages. The book is admirably printed with thorough indexes of names and places."[2]
