The FamilyTreeDNA Y-DNA/111 does not report Maternal Haplogroups. The 23andMe Test Results report my maternal haplogroup as J2a1a1b.
This can be analysed with the data here: PhyloTree.org - mtDNA tree Build 16 (19 Feb 2014) http://www.phylotree.org/tree/main.htm. Going through the haplogroup tree, one SNP at a time, the haplogroup can be determined.
Below are my SNPs that have been confirmed by a SNP test. I have been through the raw data to confirm these results. 'NC' means that I was tested for this SNP, but it was a "No Call". Others in my family, along a maternal line, have also been tested and they too report a "No Call". "NT" means I have not been tested for this SNP, but it is part of the haplogroup tree. SNPs are labeled ([ancestral base][position number][derived base]) Since the same SNP appears in multiple places in the haplogroup tree, it is important to follow the progression correctly through the branches of the tree. Here is my progression:
- Mitochondrial Eve[1] => L3 => N => R(T12705C)(T16223C)
- => R2'JT (T4216C)
- => JT (A11251G)(C15452a)(T16126C)
- => J (C295T)(T489C)(A10398G!)(A12612G)(G13708A)(C16069T)
- => J2 (C150T)(T152C!)(C7476T)(G15257A)
- => J2a (NC-T195C!)(A10499G)(G11377A)
- => J2a1 (A14133G)
- => J2a1a (A215G)(NT-T319C)(G513A)(G7789A)(G16145A)(T16231C)
- => J2a1a1 (A13722G)(C16261T)
23andMe reports my maternal haplogroup as J2a1a1b even though that can't be confirmed by comparing my data with the latest haplogroup tree: mtDNA tree Build 16 (19 Feb 2014) http://www.phylotree.org/[2] The best I see is haplogroup J2a1a1.
The attached report[3] seems to confirm that there is a discrepancy in the last 'b'.
