I've been researching my Kimble line for 40 years and have been unable to find the parents of Daniel Kimble, born September 1786 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. My DNA, Y Chromosome, shows my line goes to the DOTY family. My DNA also indicates that my KIMBLE name comes from a female line. This means that my Daniel Kimble's father was a Doty and his mother a Kimble. The census shows that there were 3 Kimble families in Washington County, Pa. in 1790 and 4 in 1800. I think all of them migrated from the New Jersey Kimble lines. Daniel's mother most likely was pregnant and moved in with one of the Kimble families in Washington County, where she had the baby. For sure, back in the late 1700's an unmarried woman who was pregnant would not have been treated well, thus the move. She gave the baby her Kimble surname which we suppose was so that he would be raised as a Kimble and most likely was living with a brother, uncle, etc. Unfortunately the census prior to 1850 shows ONLY the head of household, therefore it's next to impossible to find Daniel's mothers name.
