Anne B....this fellow Edward Soule/Sowl would not have had a middle name "B". And some of the deeds, specifically, a 1768 deed names him Edward Sowl of Rochester, shop joiner. Can we remove the 'B' in his name?? The alternate spelling of 'Sowl' is probably a clerical doing. Louise in CA
The land that Edward Soule and Jemima Soule (wife of Daniel Baker) sold, that belonged to Joseph Baker their grandfather did not have to come directly from their grandfather. Their mother Jemima inherited it from Joseph. They would have received it from her. Neither of the grandchildren were listed in the distribution of Joseph's estate. Only joseph's wife and children were listed.
Hi Janis, I did not see Edward Baker listed as a descendant in the division of Joseph Baker's estate settlement papers filed in Swansea, Bristol County, Massachusetts. Some have said both Edward Sowle and his sister, Jemima (Baker) Sowle were named but I only see Jemima's name listed. I'd like to see the original document for myself.
